What we thought would only take a few weekends has now turned into MANY weekends. The process has been fun I must say. We're trying to do everything on the cheap, so whatever we can make, we do. (one of the perks of being married to a machinist!) We've done everything ourselves, and since we're not flooring installers, cabinet makers, or upholsterers by trade, we think we've done alright!
Our biggest challenge (pain in the a$$!) has been the bunk. Tyler had to reinforce the bunk, but we were able to do all that with leftover wood we had at the shop. We fought with whether or not to take the carpeted walls and shelving down from the rear bunk area, but the dead skin cell thing (*shudder*) won out. We're SO glad we decided to rip it out and start over. Although a bit "bootleg" as my 14 year old daughter (and my middle-school kiddos would say...), we're happy with the result.
